Dictionary defines it as:

alAp alap,

— s.f. Modulation, or raising of the voice in singing, tuning up; prelude to a song: — alap-cari, s.f. Tuning the voice preparatory to singing.

If you listen to Hindi c*l*a*s*s*i*c*a*l music it is the aa aa aa aa etc. you hear before the song starts or in between antaras (stanzas).

If you look at the lyrics Sporty Gal types up you will notice she always adds aa aa or oh oh etc. in the lyrics. I was just praising her because it takes extra effort to add that when typing out lyrics. I like it because many times when you print lyrics of the internet you don’t see that and so you miss out on adding the aalaap when you sing. Often I print out lyrics and add those details to my printout. The extra details make it easier for me to sing that song. This is why I can appreciate the extra effort she puts in her typing of the lyrics.

Uff I had forgotten how annoying it is when my words end up with a bunch of asterisks in the middle.

i guess your problem is that you get into a momentum of writing long speeches you overlook the words that contain those letters

You know me so well. I do get carried away with the message I am trying to convey. Usually I read my messages over to check for typographical errors but now it seems that I also need to watch out for words that could end up as asterisks.
