shamaa ko pighalane kaa armaan kyun hai

Why is there a desire to burn the lamp
patangeko jalane kaa aramaan kyun hai

Why is there a desire to burn the moth

isi shauk kaa imtihaan jindagi hai – 2

For this pleasure, life is a test

^ That is Madhuri Dixit ji's translation.

~Khushi~:
Shamaa Ko Pighal Ne Ka Armaan Kyun Hai? – Why does the flame of the candle want to melt like wax?
Patange Ko Chalne Ka Armaan Kyun Hai? – Why does a flying kite want to walk the ground?

Isi Shawk Ka Imtahaan Zindagi Hai – The test of life are these desires.

But Khushi translated it differently. Dii, why? I also thought that patanga meant kite, but when I listened to the song, I heard jalna, instead of chalna…so I was a bit confused. Dii, is it actually chalna?

And – lol – trust you to pick on the one line, the one sentence that I wasn't too sure about… everything else in the song, i completely agree with… i don't really think i agree with the 'life is a test' part… hmmm Tongue Tied which i do realise is in my siggy lol… i interpreted it as “life seems a long trial, in comparison to this pleasure”… ho hum. not sure it makes sense now…

isi shauk ka imtihaan zindagi hai I look at it from a religious point of view. To me, this life is a test, a test of our faith in God. I know you don't think so, but that's how I look at the lyrics of the song. It's kind of like what Khushi said, that we want things we can't have. Every hardship we go through in life is a test. To see if we will lose faith in God because we aren't gettting the happiness we want. thus, people tend to get angry at God and stop believing in Him, or just start hating Him.

And for your questions about the movie, I will answer them(the ones I have an answer for) in a thread for the Bollywood movie revi
