'Jacques LeFevrier left nothing to chance when he decided to commit suicide. He stood at the top of a tall cliff and tied a noose around his neck. He tied the other end of the rope to a large rock. He drank some poison and set fire to his clothes. He even tried to shoot himself at the last moment. He jumped and fired the pistol. The bullet missed him completely and cut through the rope above him. Free of the threat of hanging, he plunged into the sea. The sudden dunking extinguished the flames and made him vomit the poison. He was dragged out of the water by a kind fisherman and was taken to a hospital, where he died of hypothermia.'

I found this somwhere a long time ago. The Suicide Manual would have been of good use to him. Sad but funny. Yes, I know I am morbid but then again we all die sometime.

The Suicide Manual is a film? That thing is hilarious! Sigh! Morbid, maybe. Sometimes we use humour as a defense mechanism, maybe without even realising it, in our subconscious… to fight against thoughts of sorrow that lace the news of a death of a loved one. Or perhaps, that is an illogical explanation, and we are simply able to accept humour pertaining to death.

Whatever the logic or reason may be (for surely there is one.. whether or not its ideas appeal to everyone is a different matter, of course..).. that quote brought me laughs, and for that reason alone, I like it.
