“Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki, mit jaave jad yaara jid apnaan di”

      it means :

is dat wat love means ? when u loose ur strength …… ur desire …….. to let go …..

u simply forget the desire to follow ur love ….. is dat wat love means to u ????

u just can't kill ur stubborness to kill ur desire to involve love in ur lyf !!!!!!

      ( in a sarcastic emotion)

I'm may not be perfect in this answer …. but comments appreciated !!!

      thanks

“Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki, mit jaave jad yaara jid apnaan di”

“Loves, my friend, is this the sign (or identity), lost is the need (or desire) to posess”

I thought it might mean: “The recognition of love, my friend, is when the beloved destroys their stuborness”

But I don't Punjabi too well. Tongue Tied

Here is the exact meaning –

My love will have no identity, my friend, when I loose crave/desire/passion/zeal to have/accept you in my life.

I'll translate it into urdu first, so that you can make the connection between the urdu and punjabi and understand the words. Smile

“Ish ki, mere dost, pehchaan kya hai, mit jaaye jab, yaara, zid apnaane ki?”

“What is the identity of love, my friend, when the stubbornness of obtaining, [my] friend, is destroyed?”

So basically he's asking what the identity of one's love will be if they give up the stubbornness to have someone for themselves.

Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki = ishq ki pehchaan hi kya rahi

mit jaave jad yaara jid apnaan di = agar usse paane ki zid hi khatam ho jaye…

that means if u love somebody, u will be so stubborn to ge him/her.

Isme katrina kehti hai k “jab apne hi yaar (pyaar) ko panne ki jid (junoon) khatam ho jaye tab apne ishq ki koi pehchaan nahi rehti “.

      Hi,

“Ishq di mere mitra pehchaan ki, mit jaave jad yaara jid apnaan di”

This is one of the best dialogue I have ever heard…

      Here goes the translation… .. .

“Aise ishq ki kya pehchaan hogi mere dost jahan pyaar ko paane ke jid waqt ke saath khatam ho jaye… .. .”

I hope it is satisfactory for you, I got it from my Punjabi Girlfriend.. She is very good at Punjabi.
