In this series of posts, we shall showcase the singing abilities of Sunidhi Chauhan, she has been so much fantastic in such a short span of time, and if she continues as she the way as she has been going, then we can no doubt labelled her as India's numero uno.

Sunidhi Chauhan, whose life is often mentioned as that of a princess locked in the pages of a fairy tale, was born on 14th August 1983. She crooned her first number Ladki Diwani (Shastra) in 1994, went on to win the mega final of Meri Awaaz Suno in 1996, has sung for over 2500 Hindi and regional language songs till date. She walked into the world of music as a little girl in a talent search TV music show. She showed no nervousness. Rather, only a confidence that took audience by surprise. Sunidhi began performing when she was five. Her dad, Mr. Dushyant Chauhan, was the first one to spot her immense potential and realize that they had a prodigy on their hands. TV host Tabassum spotted her at a show and reinforced her dad’s belief which made him shift to Mumbai with his entire family to develop her talent. They moved to the city of dreams and into music director Kalyanji 'bhai's Little Wonders troupe, in which she was the lead singer. Fame really came to her, though, only through the TV show Meri Aawaz Suno. The prize for the winner was to cut an album with HMV. Sunidhi won and recorded Aira Gaira Nathu Khaira with HMV. However, this was promoted as a kid’s album and did not do justice to Sunidhi’s immense talents. Although her first break in a Hindi film was in the film Shastra, her first breakthrough however was Ram Gopal Verma's Mast. She sang the hit Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi and also three other songs (including Mast) in the film. Sandeep Chowtha's first film as a composer got an ideal virgin voice in Sunidhi and her song became the most memorable number in the film. She added yet another feather to her cap by bagging the R D Burman award for the most promising newcomer at the Filmfare Awards 2001. Not one to rest on her laurels, she started training in Indian classical music so she could improve her skills. She also loves Western music and Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson top her list of favorites. Her ambition is to achieve global fame like them.

AN INTERVIEW WITH SUNIDHI:We caught her just after a day she came back from Paris.Excerpts from the Interview:Hi Sunidhi, How's life?Hi, Poocho Math. You know that I went to Paris and came back only yesterday and more importantly, Richard Clayderman, the renowned pianist is using the title track of ˜Uff Kya Jadoo Mohabbat Hai" sung by me in his personal album. These days, you believe it or not, I record as many as four songs per day, which is very hectic to me, but I love it. Could we ask about your marriage with Bobby Khan, if you don't mind?Please never do that. I have completely forgotten that sad phase of my life. That marriage made everybody's life miserable. My parents were greatly hurt. After a while, we decided, we could not leave together and we separated. I was living with Annu Kapoor Ji who treats me like his own daughter. Now everything is Okay and I am back to my parents. And that's all about that, pleaseeee.What are your immediate plans?There is only plan, to go on singing. I have already crossed 2,000 and I would like to go for 20,000 or more. My career is just beginning and I want to sing forever. By god's grace, I am singing in Richard's international album. I am not averse to marriage and may think of it after sometime. What is your opinion on other playback signers of today?I do not want to comment on anybody or pass remarks. All I wish to say is the golden era of Lataji and Ashaji were over when Alkaji and Kavithaji came to the limelight. I regard Alkaji as the best as she is in industry for more than 25 years and I guess she will go strong for another decade. I also respect Shreya for her talents and her nice songs. We both are kids in front of Alkaji. I am happy to have my own domain in the music scene. You are recognized by the people, you are invited everywhere. What else you want? No more questions please.
She has music in everything she does. Sunidhi was passionate about music ever since she was a kid and later went ahead to showcase her talent in a larger platform. She is a heartthrob with her scintillating voice that suits perfectly an item number to a romantic song. This new age wonder is going through a terrific phase of her career, rendering one hits after another.
